In many ways, Herb Benham IV is a musical amalgamation of all the places he’s lived. Born and raised in Bakersfield, CA, did stints in LA and the Bay Area, he now calls the great Mojave desert home. Perhaps his fate was set when as a young boy, he met the legendary Buck Owens at Buck’s office in Bakersfield and the country music icon made a deep impression. His sound has traces of outlaw country, psychedelic folk, punk rock, and stadium rock, but it’s a sound entirely his own. From fronting the Liberteens at age 16 and opening for legendary punk bands like the Reverend Horton Heat and T.S.O.L in Bakersfield, to performing as a headliner at the world famous Pappy and Harriet’s in Pioneertown, CA, in his own way Herb is California musically embodied. A fearless and fiercely independent artist, for the past 3 years he’s lived in Yucca Valley, CA and has been a frequent guest vocalist and guitarist of the Sunday Band at Pappy and Harriet’s. He’s collaborated with RedBlueBlackSilver to contribute music to the internationally known Desert Oracle Radio and has performed live with them at fundraisers for the Mojave Desert Land Trust. During the lockdowns of 2020, he self produced his first full length solo record, titled Ragtown, and it has been receiving steady streaming and praise since its release. As a performer, Herb embraces the jam band/bluegrass sensibility and seamlessly blends originals with a wide variety of covers. As a solo artist, Herb brings more energy and passion to the stage than most full bands could ever dream of. With a full band backing him, as some of the best musicians in the high desert do quite frequently, Herb’s interplay and output on stage is something that simply must be experienced for any true music fan. His music, while full of intensity, has overarching themes of love, peace, redemption, and joy. If you were wondering what the future of California country (with a healthy dose of cosmic rock and roll,) looked like, look no further.

We're a pizza shop and bar located in Flamingo Heights, just north of Yucca Valley and Joshua Tree. We have live music, cocktails, beer and special pop up events. We pride ourselves on being the local watering hole for so many lovely desert dwellers, but we also love seeing new faces.
